"Before the Storm" or "While We Wait" Original Painting
"While We Wait"; "Before the Storm", oil on canvas, 40 x 46 inches, 2020
I felt the Pandemic coming. Just a foreboding that would transform our society. I didn't know what kind of storm it would be. I thought it might be fire, global warming, economic catastrophe. In any case, change and transformation brought on by death.
In this double portrait are two sides. One sees the danger through the window and contemplates it. While the other, knowing there is no way to stop it, drinks wine, and challenges the viewer to judge her. You can know what's coming, and yet still you will suffer along with everyone.
